These are the famous hama from Taiwan. They're so cheap and plentiful that they're considered a very basic dish, barely worthy of introduction. That may be so, but the flesh tastes like wine when they're cooked, typically fried, or boiled in soup.

We've been looking for something similar in Brisbane just about forever. We finally figured out what we're looking for - they're called pipi (Plebidonax deltoides), and found along the southern coast of Queensland.

Now.. all we need to do is to find someplace that actually sells them. Seafood markets that we've been to so far are pretty pathetic.
